Oct 13 – Oct 31
(All periods are in PDT)
For the previous two decades, Other Locations Art Honest (OPaf) has popped up at Battery Leary-Merriam — an abandoned army battery scattered with graffiti in Angel’s Gate Park. The reasonable, which in the previous has been timed to loosely coincide with important L.A. art fairs like Frieze and ALAC, is just about anything but a usual white-dice fair. Alternatively, it options unconventional artwork areas and experimental artist-operate initiatives — just about anything goes. Very last March, OPaf was slated to host its 3rd iteration at Battery-Meriam Park but had to postpone owing to the pandemic. Soon after taking some time to adapt to a new on-line structure, the fair has migrated on line, and is on see by way of the thirty day period of October.
This on the net iteration of OPaf exists as a dynamic website that has compiled dozens of artist jobs, installations, situations, and performances — all unconventional in their output. Some installations, like Market Gallery’s “Gnomon” or Outback Arthouse’s Tender Reflex, have been real IRL artwork installations that visitors could see with an appointment. Other people, like Brittany’s group exhibit — which was initially conceived to be put in on the exterior of an RV at the now-canceled March iteration of the reasonable — is a speculative prepare for a group show that under no circumstances manifested. Whether or not speculative, recognized, on a flagpole, or the aspect of a hill, all art is good game as far as OPaf is involved. As they state in their manifesto: “Art is anything and practically nothing at once.”
OPaf’s on the web fair will be on view at opaf.info through October 31.
